Urethane sealants usually have special primers and very specific procedures that must be followed in order for the windshield/sealant system to comply with certain Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards(FMVSS). If a windshield is improperly installed, then in an accident it may not perform its intended safety function. Worst case scenario........someone could lose their life. Please take your vehicle to qualified and certified auto glass installer. How do you seal a windshield?
Im not trying to do it. But tommorrow some worker from a company is coming to replace my windshield. My neighbor told me to make sure that they seal it, because some companies try o get away with just putting them in, but not sealing them.

First of all they should NEVER touch the edge of the glass with their bare hands. Also, they should rip out your old seal down to about 2/10th of a centimeter. Next, they will rub a polymer activator substance along your old seal, and then they will squirt a black caulking where the window goes, then they will place in the window and make sure it is centered. PLEASE be sure to not drive your car immediately after wards because if the windshield sealant isn't dry, and you are in an accident, the windshield will pop right out and let the roof of your car cave in.

If the crack is affecting your vision while you drive, then yes, you can get pulled over. So if it's right across the middle or something then you might want to get that fixed. If it's just a small crack in the corner, it should be fine.

But like I said, usually the cops just use it for an excuse, then if you had like 2 beers, you get a dui, or they'll just say you look like you use drugs and search your car. It's just a reason to screw with you. I'd get it fixed.

I bought so many devices and machines and other gimmick that claims to remove scratches from glass, and guess what, no results at all. But i have to admit some of the devices i used did reduce the scratches a bit, but to remove completely, never seen it done before. So i recommend you change the whole glass like some of my other customers had to do, due to scratches. But don't give your money to a company that claims to remove scratches, because it is physically impossible. Good luck

It's partly due to windshield glass being a lot softer than it used to be years ago, thanks to newer federal safety standards. I distinctly recall that the windshields in my old cars (pre-1990) didn't get chipped or scratched nearly as easily as they do now. Nowadays, once a car is only a few years old the glass is usually covered with pits and fine scratches.

It's the law of averages, but if your vehicle rides lower to the road, the hits may be more direct than a tractor trailer cab windshield would experience for example. Maybe a plastic shield attached to your front grill will deflect some of the stone hits.
You are following other vehicles too closely. That's why. Stop tailgating and the problem will go away.
Use another windshield repairer. And ask about any kind of protective coating. I don't know if it exists but it can't hurt to ask.

figure it this way you got the soeed of the rock begin kicked up at you and pluse your speed. if the crak is not that bad and is on the passenger side it will pass inspection.
The rocks like you car.
living and driving in higher elevations will cause the chip to crack more rapidly... if thats not the case then if you get to it will it is still a chip you can do something that might save it

I recently needed to replace my front windshield.
The insurance company reccommended someone to use. So I contacted the guy and he did the repair. I only checked with him to see what it would cost me b/c my insurance said he would work with me on my deductable. The guy went to my insurance company and got a check to replace my windshield with out my permission. Therefore I felt like I was obligated to have him put it in. He put in a new windshield yesterday. When he brought my car back it was AWFUL! He did not properly seal back anything. The bottom corners are not even lying flat on the glass and none of the rubber seals a put back in the correct place. He did not even fit the corner pieces and side strip back together at all. I asked him about it immediately and he said it was fine. I told him that it might leak. He said no, it is fine. I told him I would get back with him about it. I had to then take my car, a 2007 honda civic si, to the body shop to have a dent fix from a rock thrown by my bush hog. The body guy saw it to and said something to me about it. So, now what can I do about this? I have called my insurance agent and left a message with the secretary. I am waiting for him to call me back. No , its not like that!!! Your windshield is part of the cars structure. Its bonded to the car now, and that's why they crack the way they do. The flex of your car will put stress on the windshield and it wont stop till the crack reaches the other side. All front windshields are actually made of two thin sheets of glass with a thin sheet of plastic glued between then. When the window is shattered the plastic sheet keeps the glass in little pieces.

As long as you go to a reputable glass shop you will be OK. Just like anything else there is a right way and a wrong way to do it. It is actually a very simple process but it has to be done right. It will be as good as factory then. The old glass has to be cut out. The new adhesive is black and about the consistency of tooth paste and is applied around the perimeter of the glass. When set in place the adhesive cures making a perfect seal.
If the crack doesn't impair your vision, then most states will not require you to replace the windshield. There is no safety hazard involved, as windshields on modern vehicles are two pieces of glass bonded on either side of a tough plastic sheet.
If on the other hand, the crack runs across the driver's field of vision, then you should have the windshield replaced immediately.

Usually when you have a windshield replaced....the tech will put the same sticker back on the windshield.....I don't understand why it would be void?

So i called the Lexus service center to find out the price to replace it.
I thought it will only cost me, the most $800..
but they said the labor fee is $150 (understandable) and the windshield itself is around $3000, and the molding is around $500,
and the person came up with the estimate of $3940..
i was reall shocked so i just said okay and hung up.
is this what other body shops are going to cost me??

How do i replace the windshield washer reservoir on a dodge ram 2500?

take a screwdriver (a good sized one) and stick it between the bottle and the fan shround. apply very light pressure and the tab that is on the very top of the resevoir attaching it to the shroud, make sure that is clearing the shroud by pulling towards you slightly while you lift up on the resevoir. sometimes they take a little workd but the most important part is that you gently pry the resevoir away from the shroud in the MIDDLE section of the resevoir. once you have it off you will see a little dimple on theresevoir that was locking it to the shroud. hard to see when it is in the vehicle
