How frequent do windshield wipers need to be replaced?

hello i want to know how frequent do we need to replace the windshield wipers, not the rubber part but the metal part. And how much do they cost usually? I have a honda accord 01 model. thanks. How frequent do windshield wipers need to be replaced?
The metal part can and does last much longer than a year, but I always buy a complete wiper blade (rubber) and the metal housing at the same time, about once a year. The cost shouldn't be more than about $15-20 maximum for both wipers. How frequent do windshield wipers need to be replaced?
At least once a year. The sun dries them out and they become inflexible and so don't do their job. You don't want to find out you need new ones when it's raining.
OK, when you say the metal part, I assume you're talking about the blade assy. I've allways found it best to replace the whole blade assy when they start to streak, and make noise. I don't bother with the blade refills because they're a pain to install, they don't last as long, and sometimes they're made to fit allot of differant makes and models of vehicals. I think your best bet would be to buy NAME BRAND wiper blades to fit your car. I usually change mine about once a year around this time.Other than that, nothing else should need attention. (washer fluid not included) HINT: From time to time, take a damp paper towel and wipe off the rubber part of your wiper blades. You'll be amazed at all the dirt that accumilates.
I replace mine twice a year. It seems like that's as long as they will last before they start leaving streaks on the windshield.
You should change out your blades every 6 months.

The reasoning behind this is the rubber gets dry and little rocks and other things chew up the blade a bit and they just don't work as good anymore.
