How much does it cost to replace your whole windshield?

I have a crack going across my entire windshield that is going to need to be replaced. I was just wondering if anyone else has gotten their whole windshield done and how much it costs. I have insurance but I have no idea what it will cover. [I know I need to make a claim but I'm worried that I am so broke right now I won't even be able to pay the premium/co-pay.]How much does it cost to replace your whole windshield?
Word of advice, DON'T call the insurance company and play their game using the glass company they have in mind. Look through the Yellow Pages for the glass companies that offer to help you make the insurance claim.

Front auto glass depends on the model. If the glass is really huge and curved and tinted, expect to pay $600 out of your pocket, the glass company might know the maximum they can charge plus the deductible of $150, for instance, and price the glass for you at $750.

It costs nothing for an estimate from a glass company. How much does it cost to replace your whole windshield?
I don't know what you drive, or where you live, but I've paid $170.00 in the past.

1985 Chev. K-10 CA.

Oh, one other thing...I've never tried to replace half a windshield, or just part of it.
it depends on the car and its it tinted

i would say from 250-500
Every car is different. Call the local glass places in your area and ask! Then call your insurance agent or look at your policy and see if you have glass coverage and what the deductible is.
It will be cheaper to just pay it out of pocket and not go through insurance. Looking at 150-250 you didn't say what kind of car. Get one of the mobile places they can come do it at your work or wherever and you don't have to be without a car like you would if you dropped it off at a shop.
not more than 200.bucks.
between $150 and $400 depending on how rare it is. Most insurance policies have 'glass deductibles' so you would need to cover that deductible and then they will pay anything over that.

Most people have either a $0, $50, or $100 deductible on glass.
86 ford pu is about 150

55 chevy is 500

it is all in what you drive
Hello.... I work with an auto glass company and we normally charge about $145 for those but can go as low as $135 ..... the glass will only cost the company about 65 - 70 bucks... they're a quick and simple job so it will only take about 45 min...

If you go thru insurance.... well ... dont... its better if you pay cash upfront or sumthing... Try a local auto glass place... if you try safelite or all star glass (that are world wide) they might want an arm and a leg ;) good luck
