How do replace the spring on a windshield wiper arm?

Chevy Astrovan I removed the wiper arm and need to install the spring . This spring heavy duty and I can't pull it over the holes . Is there a special way to do this ?How do replace the spring on a windshield wiper arm?
If its a heavy spring get a new one, its too hard to install safely, you need to get a long screwdriver and use leverage to pull it and get it in the hole, its real dangerous. Need a vise. A vise and a long screwdriver.
