Mazda Miata Rear Windshield Replace?

Hi, myh back windshield has recently shattered and I was wondering if anyone knows how to replace these. It is on a soft top 2002. The windshield is glass.

When I replaced my top, my rear window was in perfect condition. I thought maybe someone might want it. But I was informed that the process of trying to replace the window in a top is almost as expensive as replacing the whole top so there was not much point.



On the other hand, how did it shatter? Many times glass is covered under your car insurance and they will cover the repair (minus your deductible.) I am curious whether an insurance claim would get you a new top or a new window only. It probably varies depending on the company.



FYI: I was able to get a new top on my 1999 (identical from a top perspective) installed and with labor for around $800 this summer.Mazda Miata Rear Windshield Replace?
To be honest your best bet might be to order a new top, which would be around $600. Another alternative is to order a back window and have an upholstery shop sew it in. That would be $200 for the window and another $150 for labor. I'm not totally familiar with glass windows so I could be wrong.
