Is there anything you can put on a cracked windshield to stop the crack from getting bigger?

My husbands truck had a small crack in it. Now it seems to be getting bigger. Not sure if I can afford a new one right now. What is the average price to replace a windshield? Is there anything I can put on it to stop it from getting bigger until I can get it fixed? Is there anything you can put on a cracked windshield to stop the crack from getting bigger?
Once a crack in the windshield begins to ';grow';, there are no reliable methods to stop it or repair it.

Drilling holes and super glue will not stop the crack from spreading; like other answers suggest; it's a waste of time and effort.

The windshield should be covered under the comprehensive section of your insurance policy and for a small deductible, you can have the windshield replaced without affecting your insurance rates.

Most truck windshields can be replaced for $200 to $300. This is dependent upon model, size and year of the truck. Is there anything you can put on a cracked windshield to stop the crack from getting bigger?
Take it to your local windshield shop, they have a silicon based repair system that work pretty good .
One thing you can try is drilling a one millimetre hole through the first layer of glass (laminated) , right at the end of the crack, then drip some good quality supa-glue into the hole.....should hold the crack from getting bigger for little while.
I've heard of two methods of stopping the crack from spreading.

One is to drill a very small hole at each end of the crack. This idea comes from the days before toughened and laminated glass, so you might need to use a diamond-tip drill to do this.

The second one I've heard is to use super glue.

I've no idea whether either of these work and, in the UK at least, it is illegal to drive with a cracked windscreen anyway.

Depending on what type and size, a windshield can cost from 拢100 to 拢300 to supply and fit.
If the windshield is cracking along a fault line, its about impossible to stop. Check on your insurance policy and see if your insurance covers windshields. Its such a small price to pay when you buy insurance. Its called comprehensive. If you buy a windshield, you can get one from WWW.CAR-PART.COM for about $100. You probably shouldn't put it in yourself unless you're experienced, so it'll cost easily another $100 to put it in. Good luck
I seen lots of people get it ';repaired';, for %26lt;$50 they put some type of glue to seal and stop it from spreading. Not sure of the name or exact process though. This was from a rock going at ~65MPH

It's still noticeable, but doesn't spider crack.
