It depends on what kind of car it is. I would try calling a junk yard first to see if they have any available, then take it to a place that installs windows. It's much cheaper that way.

It really depends on what you drive. Last summer, I replaced the windshield in my Ford Escort and it cost around $250. I would just shop around ... call two or three auto glass places, tell them what you drive, and find out what they charge.

This depends on what state you live in, Florida where I live insurance will pay for a free windshield replacement one time. If you go to a junk yard I would make sure you have a Professional put it in. Don't go cheap because you could always end up waisting the money if it isn't done right (leak or what not). Call around to some of the local mom and pop mechanics in your area if they can do it or if they can recommend some one to you. Just do a little research and you can find a good deal.
