How take the wipers out of the way to replace windshield on GM Safari 93?

I brought the van to shop for replacing windshield. Mechanic said that he can not take the wipers off because they are spring loaded. They are not easily come off. They do not stay like V but spring keep wipers pushing towards the glass. Since its a cheap van I do not want to spend lot on repairing. Is there something I can do it myself?

If he can't handle the job take it to a windshield place. You aren't the first to get a replacement windshield with those kind of wipers. I wouldn't have to much faith in that mechanic...How take the wipers out of the way to replace windshield on GM Safari 93?
He should know how to remove the wiper blades and put them back on. If you want to do it yourself, just remove the plastic cover and nut, then pull them off. The spring will not come out of the wiper arm.



Seriously though, he should be able to pull them away from the windshield enough to replace the windshield. I would go somewhere else to have it done.
most autoglass places can do it for less than 200 bucks
