difficult enough to take it to a car shop.
Forget it - virtually all modern vehicles have bonded in windscreens that require specialist cleaners, solvents %26amp; usually a selection of rubber finishing strips to complete the job. Get someone to replace it onsite %26amp; have it done properly.
I think it will be better to have it done there is to much wind noise to deal with you cant seal it just right
Lots of messy work. The old one can be easy to remove but mind you, you can (ruin) a brand new windshield very easily just trying to install it. It's not worth it my friend. Take it to a windshield shop. If they damage it, they have to cover the damage. It's not likely they will just because that is their specific skill. Some things are worth paying for... this is one of them. It's not as expensive as you think. Shop around.
Its a pain in the behind. You need special tools to pull up the trim and also to remove the glue holding the windshield on.

I would take it to a shop unless I had all the right tools.
Ive replaced a 67 mustang windshield before hope this helps you

1

Detach and remove the old windshield. Take a putty knife and scrape off all the old molding. Take a kerosene-soaked rag or cloth and wipe around the area where the old molding was. This helps ensure that the new molding will stay in place.

2

Place the new molding in the windshield opening. The molding is what holds the windshield in place.

3

Put the new windshield in place. You will need someone to help you hold the windshield while you are placing it in its designated area. Have your helper stand on one side while you stand on the other side.

4

Press firmly around the edge of the windshield to make sure it goes in right and stays in right. This is a fairly simple task to do if you do it carefully enough to not break the windshield. Both people need to firmly press around the windshield edge.
Get on-line and google what you need, you can probably get a quote right off like I did .
The fact that your jeep is only 12 years old I have to agree it's probably better if you have it done. (the installation should be about $100) But if you HAVE to do it a piece of piano wire two dowels two tubes uf sealant and preferably someone who has done this before is a good start this site might also be helpful

Hope I helped.......R
Not some thing you are likely to be able to do, not suggesting you cannot, but it is a specialised job, and if you were to do it and you had it come out on you while travelling the consequences could be dire, and your insurer would probably not be interested. Get an expert on it.
It's not that difficult if you have the right tools. If not then it's best left to someone who has them and knows what they are doing. You don't want water flowing in while you're driving in the rain.
Don't listen to the guy with the 67 Mustang, that is a gasket mounted windshield, you have a glued in urethane windshield. The windshield is a very important when it comes to safety.

1. It is considered structural when it comes to a roll over.

2. If you are involved in an accident where the airbags are deployed, the airbag will first hit the windshield and then react to protect the passenger. If you replace the windshield yourself, you will be legally liable for and harm that comes to your passenger from the airbag not working properly due to the windshield not being installed properly.

It may actually be cheaper to go to a body shop than to buy all the tools needed to replace the windshield. I'm guessing you may already have the glass since you are only asking about the labor. Offer the shop $50.00 and see if they will install it. Never hurts to try.

If you are installing a used windshield... you may be an idiot.
