How do I replace the windshield molding on my 1998 BMW 528i?

I took my car to the BMW dealer to have several things (service) done. One was to replace the outside rubber molding around the windshield. They told me that they would have to remove the windshield and that it would probably crack the windshield. Does this sound right to you?How do I replace the windshield molding on my 1998 BMW 528i?
The rubber can be flush cut to remove the windshield at a glass shop, but they may not give warranty on installation because glass does break and it was not their glass to begin with as well as glass being used and old or weathered(slight chips and such will weaken it especially if removing and replacing, which requires light to moderate handling of glass). How do I replace the windshield molding on my 1998 BMW 528i?
That is a big NEGATIVE i work for BMW in tustin california. What you want to do is buy the molding take it to a glass place and have them put it on they will remove the windshield and install it for about $100.00
And if they bust it, they will have to replace it.

This does not sound like good advice. There are very few people that can remove a windshield without any damage. You will have to take your chances with someone you don't know or BMW.
