I have replaced them 2x already, vehicle only has 22k mi. It seems like they keep getting trashed. Live in an area with lots of ice and snow. How often should you replace windshield wipers on car?
Think of it this way, the wiper blades are a whole lot cheaper than replacing the windshield. Try some Rain-X windshield washer fluid, it seems to help with the life of the wiper blades and provides a better field of vision in the rain. Just a suggestion. How often should you replace windshield wipers on car?
Usually you will know by their ability to clean your windshield. If they just spread the grime around they definitely need replacement. They should be replaced before the weather changes from warm, sunny to winter conditions as a safety factor. New blades in the winter time are going to remove the scum churned by those huge trucks. If you can't see, replace them.
Rubber blades take a beating especially scraping ice during winter, though using your heater to warm up the windshield and scraping the ice before using your wipers will extend blade life.
I do a yearly replacement of the whole blade, Walmart does not carry wiper refills in my area, and this keeps my wipers in weather changing/ready condition.
When you notice chatter or streaks of water when the blade passes over the glass, it may be time to change it. Hope this helps.

It's not so much a function of mileage, but a function of time. Most windshield wipers suggest changing every six months, however I've found that a good set will last a little over a year depending on conditions. If your car is garage kept, they should also last longer. Try to keep them moist, too... use your windshield wiper fluid every couple weeks, even if it's not dirty. This will keep your wipers from drying out and cracking, especially with all the salt on the roads!
Depending on where you live, if they smear in a light mist or light rain- that's a definite sign they're past due. I live where it doesn't snow, but I still find myself replacing them every year. In the snow, I would say 2 times a year at most- if you don't already have heavy duty ones I would recommend doing so. Good luck!
here is my simple opinion on changing wiper blades.. if and when your wiper blades streak( as in when they wipe in either direction they leave water on windshield after making a pass) its time to change or another time to change is when the chatter when on ( they kinda hop) when in operation its time to change
Cheap wipers don't last too long. Buy a decent pair and you shouldn't have this problem. Another thing, when they are frozen to your windshield alot (I live in Michigan) they tend to not last as long either.
With ice and snow they can go bad fast. I live in las vegas and about every 6 months is normal. And miles have nothing to do with wiper blades. That is like saying every 5k miles you need to wash your car.
i replace mine every year whether it needs them or not,its a good idea, because if one comes loose it will scar a windshield up real bad, good luck.
Buy a better set and don't turn them on until the ice and snow has been melted or scraped off. Try running and green scotchbrite pad on the rubber part once in awhile
This is a trick question right? When they start leaving streaks you replace them, right? Regardless of their age or the cause, right?
You should change your wipers every time you change your oil so either every 6 months or 3000 miles.
If you keep them clean, they will last a couple years anyway.
Maybe look into buying heavier duty ones and see if they last any longer.
usually once a year is enough.
I would say 3 maybe 4 times a year.
Once a year
i would recomend atleast once a year
