How can I take a broken windshield out of my car.?

I flipped my car over a little while ago and I need to replace the windshield. I would like to get the old windshield out before the new one comes in. I took the rubber thingy off that surrounds the windshield and that plastic thing at the bottom. What should I do next? How can I take a broken windshield out of my car.?
You need to be very careful with this. People have been hurt or even killed dealing with broken windshields. Sounds like it is the glue in type windshield. First off wear good gloves like leather ones and long sleeve and long pants. Take a heavy duty long handled scraper and press or tap the point between the glass and frame. You will need to cut the glue under the glass all around. There is a tool also made for this. It is like two handles with a wire between them. You get the wire under a broken part of the glass and pull the handles back and forth cutting the glue. When you finally get the broken glass out of there you will need to scrape the remainder of the glue off. Use another long handled scraper that works when you pull on it.It is better than the push kind. This job is lots of work. The place where I buy my windshields is very reasonable on taking the old glass out and installing the new one. They are experts and do it every day and are way faster than me.How can I take a broken windshield out of my car.?

if you rolled the car over it probably bent the body also.so i doubt a new windshield will be easy to have installed with out it leaking.even though the body may look okay al it takes is a little bend and you've got issues.so before the new windshield is put in your gonna have to it in place and make sure it forms the body right before trying to glue the new one in.as for getting out the old windshield you are going to have to take out the interior pieces around the windshield off also.your local parts store should carry a special cord, similar to guitar string that's made to cut out the old windshield.
Use a piano wire or guitar string to saw through the old sealant all around the edge of the winshield, then clean up the remainder with brake cleaner or solvent.
stand on roof right above the windshield ...body facing foward .....take the sledge hammer in ur hand and raise above your head ....in a downward motion swing till the sledge hammer and windshield become one ....

if this dont work repeat from begining

im kidding , seriously theres some adhesive gum inbetween the edges of windshield and the trim of car ...youll have to remove that

get inside and push out ...it may take some work pushing but it will come out

make sure you clean the seating area off really good before you set the new one in , or else you could have some seious leaks from rain ...

if you havent done this before id suggest getting help this could turn out to be a pain

safelite usaully has them cheap and will install onsite at a very good price
Good advice above, but the conclusion might be to contact your auto insurance agent and have the windshield replaced under your insurance policy for the typical $50 deductible.
if you removed all the retaining thingies than get in the car put your feet on the glass and push it out i it will come out in one large piece have fun
