I am trying to replace they windshield wipers on my car but I can't get the old ones off. They are the all weather type with the plastic layer over the whole thing. I bought a different type to replace them so I don't even know how the current ones were put on.How to remove old windshield wipers?

There is usually either some kind of set screw or spring release to remove the whole wiper from the car.
You might have to carefully pop them off with something (careful not to scuff the paint or glass).
Stop by any local auto parts store , they'll be happy to help you.
Just don't let that wiper arm slap the windshield when they lift
it up. Make note of this to the person that's going to help you.
It could break your windshield. I've seen it happen .
