How do I fix a chip in my windshield?

I've got a chip in my windshield that's just a little over a quarter of an inch in length on bottom driver's side. How do I fix that without having to spend loads of money on getting it fixed or having my whole windshield replaced? How do I fix a chip in my windshield?
Your local auto parts store should carry whats called a ';star-repair kit'; or ';windshield repair'; It pulls the air out of the chip and injects a clear glue in creating a weather-proof and invisible repair. They work GREAT!How do I fix a chip in my windshield?
Most areas have small companies that specialize in this type of repair for pretty cheap and some auto glass shops also do this kind of work, drop by one and get an estimate. I would guess no more than about thirty dollars. I have seen in parts stores a chip repair kit, but I do not know how well they work and personally would rather have someone do it for me, and I am a certified auto technician.
There is not a easy, do it yourself method that works. I have seen windshield repair kits at O'Reily I think, but they cost like 14 bucks, and probably don't work very well...The problem is that the crack needs to be drilled and glued. You have to drill the end of the crack to stop it from spreading, and then an epoxy is added and hardened under an ultraviolet light. What you really need to watch out for is getting water into the crack and letting the car sit in freezing weather, it doesnt happen all the time, but that is a sure fire recipe for a crack to grow!

Call your insurance company if you have full coverage, they may pay to have a NOVUS repair done, and some insurance will actually pay for a new windshield if it cracks all the way across. but usually the NOVUS repair only costs 25 bucks, depending on who's doing it. And sometimes you can get the guys to do it on the side.
Auto glass shops can do that. I think they all use the Novus system, which can do a very good repair that is guaranteed for the life of the windshield not to spread. The last time I paid for a chip repair it was $80 (prices vary and we are an expensive area) but if you have comprehensive overage on the car that often covers chip repair. Either way be sure to get it fixed, and soon, or you can count on paying for windshield replacement.
yes they sell kits at auto parts stores for $10 they work good Ive used them before it takes about an hour but its not an hour of work about 10 minutes of work 50 minutes of drying just do it on a sunny day. good luck
