I have a Ford F150 truck 1993,replaced the windshield motor will not stay on unless I hold the button?

I hear a clicking noise under the dash,is there a relay?I have a Ford F150 truck 1993,replaced the windshield motor will not stay on unless I hold the button?
My first thought was regarding a potential problem with the unit being grounded. I don't know what the story with your windshield motor is nor of the 1993 model year specifically... but that's what I would check because it might be vital to the unit working correctly. If it's supposed to be grounded and isn't then it may not function normally. That may not entirely make sense being that it works as long as the button is pushed... but it's worth looking into.

I would also double check the wiring. First to make sure it's all reconnected correctly and also to make sure I didn't accidentally damage any of the wiring itself. After that? It's possible the replacement unit isn't the right one... and also that it is bad out of the box from a parts supplier. I've seen that happen so many times it's not funny. Double check you have the correct wiper motor for your truck (use the part number to double check) and see if there's any bench test for the motor. If there is, it'll most likely be found in the shop manual or a repair manual for your truck. Yes there is a wiper control module under the dash.
