How urgent is replacing a cracked windshield?

I've had a J shaped crack in the top center of my windshield for about 3 months now. After going through a car wash, it extended to about half way to the passengers side. It appears to be hairline. Will it be ok for another 2 weeks and maybe 300 miles... I'm going on a trip tomorrow? How urgent is replacing a cracked windshield?
You are rolling the dice with your safety and the safety of any passengers riding with you.

The design of the safety features on autos is based on the assumption the the windshield has no flaws. That's why a crack will not pass inspection.

With respect to safety, you might as well begin your trip with breaks that might only work part of the time and can't be counted on to prevent or avoid an accident. How urgent is replacing a cracked windshield?
Replace it before the trip. Take no chances.
A crack like that, I would never trust for any amount of time.

You need to go somewhere and see if they can at least keep it from spreading further. At some point the whole windshield could shatter and fall int on you while you are on your trip.

It needs to be replaced immediately, but there is plenty that can be done with windshields if you cant afford a new one.
hairline crack i wont worry too much ,however

u can get it fix for cheap u dont have to get it

changed its a fast fix.
the windscreen is designed to withstand heavy imapct from large objects, such as people/ animals with a crack the structure is compromised, meaning if anything that large hits it, the performance is severly diminished...in laymans terms, the whole screen will come apart in your face
You should try to get it fixed. That is a major saftey problem. At this point I'm sure it can't be repaired, you will have to replace the window. Normally car glass companies can fix a windshield pretty quick. I even know someone that had it done while they were at work. They just called and the company came out and fixed it in the parking lot.
Nobody can predict when that thing will just go, you could hit a bump and it could go.
