A rock hit my windshield and I can't afford to replace it. Is there any thing I can do?

If you have a decent insurance company, they will replace front windshields for free. Call them.A rock hit my windshield and I can't afford to replace it. Is there any thing I can do?

You can put toothpaste on the crack to stop it from spreadin, and try not to use your heater in the car because it causes it to spread and turn into a crack. They also have an ointment kind of thing at places like wal mart that stop spreading and cracking.
There's a low cost procedure...I think they inject resin into the hole and it involves UV light. Most auto glass places will do it.
If I were you I would find the nearest Pick and Pull (it is the cheapest place to find car parts) they are used but it still works.
If you have insurance (comprehension), check deductible, you can put it through comprehension. However, if insurance is not the answer, then you can put clear nail polish on the crack to prevent it spread in for awhile. You will eventually have to replace the windshield. You could look into junk yards to see if they have your type of windshield. You can usually get a very cheap price for a replacement.
there is a 25.00 procedure that most window places can perform were they will inject a resin (or a glue) into the crack u will still see the crack or chip but it will keep it from cracking all the way across ( not in some states a crack in the windshield is a safety violation and cause your car to fail safety checks or could be stopped and ticketed)
I had this problem too. I took a X-ACTO KNIFE cut the safety film on the window and (make sure the window is warm) then put on SUPER GLUE at the end of the crack so it wouldn't crack anymore. Hope this helps
Super glue on the chip.
